The critical thinking-oriented adaptations of problem-based learning models: a systematic review

Critical thinking is a significant twenty-first century skill that prioritized by higher education. Problem-based learning becoming widely accepted as an effective way to enhance critical thinking. However, the results of studies use PBL develop CT have had mixed success, models need be modified guarantee positive outcomes. This study systematic review analyzed how adapted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) become more Thinking (CT)-oriented, evaluated effectiveness these adaptations, and determined why certain adaptations were successful. The was conducted in accordance with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses) searching scientific databases Scopus Web Science. Twenty journal articles chosen based on their adherence inclusion criteria established PICo (Population, Phenomenon Interest, Context). In studies, categorized into five classifications, activities centered development being most prevalent approach. Researchers utilized variety analytical methodologies assess derive insights formulate valid conclusions. An analysis all selected revealed outcomes, indicating incorporating elements enhancing students' CT. These findings nine factors contribute successful adaptation CT-oriented.
